FINANCIAL COACHING
Steve got started in financial coaching after listening to Dave Ramsey. Initially, Steve was hesitant to get on board, in fact, he challenged everything Dave said.
Steve eventually came to realize the wisdom behind the words and learned the truth for himself. He decided to follow Dave’s advice and eventually eliminated 15K in consumer debt he had racked up by being normal.
From this point on Steve has made it his mission to spread the word far and wide about the pitfalls of being normal and the importance of becoming debt free. More than anything, he wants you to start paying attention and not interest.
CAREER
Steve and I discuss how debt limits your career choices. In fact, Steve says that you can be trapped in your career because of debt. Consider the expenses required to switch jobs or start a business. Both would be a lot easier to handle with no debt.
Other topics Steve and cover include:
- The differences between debit and credit cards
- Why employers review your credit history
- What is a FICO score
- Steve’s opinion of the perfect FICO score
- Steve and I also discuss the importance of having an emergency fund. Not just from a financial standpoint which is easy to comprehend, but from a mental standpoint as well.
Just this past week I wrote about my personal battle with debt, how I handled the mental aspect of carrying a large debt load and how I was able to get out of debt.
We also cover how important being debt free is, to starting a small side business of your own.
STARTING A BUSINESS
Because he’s been there himself, Steve has recently started helping want-a-preneurs become solopreneurs with financial coaching.
We cover the common pitfalls people face as they got solo including:
- Not having an Emergency Fund
- Required insurances
- Taxes
- Separating business accounts
- Start up expenses (maintenance, computers, email, software, etc.)
VIRTUAL BUDGET COURSE
To help you get started quickly, Steve has developed a virtual budget course. The course consists of 6 core videos with at least 2 bonus videos and other surprises Steve adds along the way.
Unlike other courses you may take, Steve’s course walks you through a process. This process causes you to communicate with your spouse and prioritize your spending. Steve guarantees you will learn a lot about yourself during this process.
